KKP's The School Of All Trades: Quests And Questing
The Tutorial Quests included with the HUD are but a small taste of what’s to come with respect to quests. In the very near future, there will be quests that feature NPC enemies to battle, fully-fledged stories to complete, and loot to earn! And while Keeper’s Krew Productions plans to put out a plethora of quests for Students to enjoy, they won’t be the only quests available.
Once the very first, official quest pack has been released to showcase what the scripts can do, I will be releasing the affiliate quest scripts for sale for people to create their own stories, worlds, and quests for TSOAT! That’s right. People will be able to write their own stories that they can then sell or give away as quest packs for other Students to enjoy! My sincerest hope is that, very soon after the affiliate quest scripts are released, we will see a plethora of stories that we can all enjoy and take part in.
Students who purchase quest packs and have the available land to do so can set their quests out for other Students to enjoy. They can do this freely, or they can set out tip jars in the hopes that other Students will show their appreciation by leaving the owner of the quest pack a tip. Either way, Students are free to share their quest packs with others. Just one thing to keep in mind: if the quest loot permissions are set to be no-transfer for the next owner, other Students will not be able to collect said loot. They’ll still receive Fate Points if Fate Points are rewarded, but they will not get the items that can be earned from the story. In order for that to occur, the Student desiring the quest reward will have to purchase the quest pack themselves. That’s simply the nature of permissions settings, and not a limitation of the quest system, itself.
What is a current limitation of the quest system is that quests are experienced individually, Student by Student. A party structure is not currently set up for the system. I do hope that that will change sometime in the future, especially if Students express an interest in being able to experience quests with their friends, rather than parallel to them. Give me time, and we’ll see what I can do.
All that said, it is my sincerest hope that everyone enjoys the quests to be released for TSOAT, either by me or by others.
Wishing everyone good fortune and loot,
KeeperS Karu
